STAN WOODWARD'S MASTER WORKS COLLECTION
For the first time Stan is making his Master Works available in one collection, with notes on each film written exclusively for this signature collection by the filmmaker - notes on how the collection contains a unique inside look at what makes the South the South - it's people of the grass roots and getting to know them through the folk heritage cooking traditions they proudly maintain with recipes, special seasonings, and tall tales that come down from their ancestors who grew up in the agrarian South. In addition there are short works that Stan shot along the way. Owners of this collection will be immersed in the deeply rooted folk heritage traditions of the South accompanied by music performed by folk heritage musicians.
Included in the 12-DVD collection are:
IT's GRITS (A Southern Tradition).... Brunswick Stew (Virginia Tradition).... Brunswick Stew (Georgia Tradition)...
Sheep Stew of Dundas (Southside Virginia Tradition)....Carolina Hash (South Carolina Tradition)...
BURGOO! (Kentucky Tradition)....Southern Stews ( Cross-Regional Southern Stews Traditions)...
Rockfish Muddle (Roanoke River Tradition)....Barbecue & Homecooking (SC Heritage Corridor Tradition)...
Cush (A Piedmont SC Tradition)....The Cooperative Grocery (An Abbeville, SC Tradition)...
The Olgers Chronicle (A Sutherland VA Tradition)....The Morris Chronicle (A Hatiola Plantation & Hunt Club Tradition)
"The thread that runs through all these films is a love for the South and for up close and personal experiences with a grand variety of Southern folk over a pot of burbling stew, or on the front porch of Jimmy Olgers' old country store and museum, or in a truck with Morris Peeples, or around a card table with hash-masters. By the time the viewer completes viewing this collection of works, they will be able to know and revel in the mysterious and wonderful and allusive nature and quirkiness of the wonderful people of the deep South."
